Post Tension and Rebar Mapping at The Superdome, New Orleans, Louisiana

We have all heard of the Superdome located in New Orleans, Louisiana. This arena is enormous and with an enormous stadium comes lots of parking. To better service the Superdome stadium they decided to make some changes to the parking structure that surrounds it. Gibbs Construction needed some help locating the reinforcing steel and post tension cables that are located in the concrete slabs of the parking garage. To complete this project safely Gibbs Construction contracted GPRS to complete the scanning prior to opening the concrete at several locations. As with any structure there are concerns, and for this parking garage they were concerned with the post tensioned cables as these cables can be deadly if broken. These areas needed to be scanned using ground penetrating radar do to the various sizes and locations. Due to this fact they contacted the specialists, GPRS. This is an ideal application for ground penetrating radar as PT Cable and rebar locating are some of the GPR specialties. Using the GPR we can do large areas of work quickly and accurately without needing to develop any film. GPRS, Inc. from New Orleans, LA took the call and has mobilized to the site.
