Underground Utility Locating At Naval Air Station - Belle Chasse, Louisiana

GPRS was contacted by a Contractor near New Orleans, Louisiana to mobilize to locate underground utilities. The contractor had plans to excavate at various locations around the base and were concerned about hitting unknown underground utilities. This was especially important given the critical nature of the facility. For these reasons, they called Ground Penetrating Radar Systems.

GPRS, Inc. is often called to mobilize to a project to locate underground utilities. Ground penetrating radar is an extremely accurate and effective way of locating the impediments in the ground. GPRS has found its accuracy to be +/- 6” when marking the center of the pipe and +/-10% when determine the depth of the object. The process is normally very quick and field markings are placed in real time.

With this in mind, GPRS completed the utility locating process in Southeast Louisiana marking all utilities discovered and explaining the findings to an on-site representative. The contractor was then able to continue with its excavation schedule with more knowledge and confidence and an understanding of what hazards lay in their path. On site we were able to scan all required areas in a matter of hours.
